Bah! The parade was canceled yet again today! It was supposed to start at noon, so I got there about 11:15. As I walked to school, I felt raindrops every now and then, but it was nothing steady. I asked the principal, Antonio, if we were still having it and he said yes and I figured we would too because there was a band there and they had started playing a little bit. I found Pilar and asked her what was up and she said she didn’t think we were going to have it because Alberto had told her probably not.
We went to the Sala de Profesores and had a café and were speculating with a few others as to the outcome. Some thought we’d for sure have it because it was already canceled once last week and others didn’t think so. Well, in the end it was a no-go (and it has officially been canceled permanently) because the rain started to fall a little heavier. However, since the kids were already dressed up and ready to go, we all went to the gym for pictures and they ran around for a while in costume. I have some good pictures and video.
Pilar offered to give me a ride home (which I gladly accepted!) since the rain was—and still is—rather steady. The sky is gray, it’s cold and it’s just not a good day. The biggest parade is supposed to be tomorrow, but if it keeps raining like this (which is what they’re calling for) then that’ll be canceled too.
Xoxo,
Court
