This afternoon it’s mainly sunny and 54; though with the wind it feels colder than that!

With Rocío’s classes first and last hours we talked a bit more about MLK, actually we just listened to the song we listened to last week about equality. Of course we had to listen to it a couple of times and then try to sing it, which didn’t really work because it’s a fast rap…it was even hard for me to follow in some places. She then had then make/decorate posters with peace words on them which they’ll hang up in the class.

I reviewed numbers one through fifty with 1B. It was the first time they’d reviewed them all together like that and most of them knew them! They must forget them over the years, though, because there are some upper levels that get some confused or just plain can’t remember. After that they did a worksheet where they had to match the weather words to the pictures and color some clothing based on the instructions.

I read 2B a story about this boy, Lee, who goes to the zoo with his mom. They did a couple of listening activities and later had this mini review quiz where Analen asked them to color certain objects different colors.

With Marina’s 5A they started a new unit about places around the city (so they’re a little ways behind Rocío’s classes…I think she started that unit right after we came back from Christmas break). I read the vocab to them (restaurant, ice rink, shopping center, etc) and they repeated it. Later, we said this tongue twister as well. Marina also passed back their exams at the end so she said I could leave her class a little early.

After class this afternoon I need to look for Groundhog Day activities. Personally I don’t think it’s worth “celebrating”. Mention it; maybe talk about it for five minutes? Yes. But plan a whole class around it? I think not! But what Rocío wants Rocío gets, so I shall “get my search on” later.

Xoxo,
Court
